What Were the 2026 Enduro Mountain Bike National Championships?
Enduro is a timed-descent discipline. Riders pedal or ride lifts between stages on untimed “transfers,” then race individually against the clock on mostly downhill “special stages.” Only the stages are timed, and the lowest combined time wins. That makes it a test of descending speed, bike handling, and the stamina to stay sharp over two days.
The national championship is awarded through the USA Cycling-recognized event hosted by the NAEC. USA Cycling and NAEC announced a renewed partnership in February, and 2026 was the second consecutive year the NAEC hosted the national titles for both enduro and e-enduro, according to NAEC’s own results post.
When and Where Was the Race Held?
The racing took place Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Silver Mountain Resort in Kellogg, Idaho. NAEC’s event base was in the Gondola Village area at 610 Bunker Avenue, where check-in, timing, neutral support, and podiums were held. Course maps for each day were published on Trailforks on Thursday, June 4, and practice ran Friday, June 5.
The event had earlier been announced for July 25–26 in a preliminary NAEC release before being scheduled for June 6–7; the June dates are the ones confirmed by USA Cycling and used in the final results.
How the Enduro Race Format Worked
Under the NAEC rulebook, each rider completes untimed transfers that lead to timed race stages, with individual starts on every timed stage. Stages are predominantly descending, may include some climbing, and some include man-made wooden features. Race Cascadia handled timing.
- Pro/Expert course: used by Pro/Open, e-bike, hardtail and age-group racing categories.
- Sport course: shorter, with less climbing, for Sport and Junior Sport categories.
- Enduro Light (new for 2026): a one-day format on Sunday for riders who wanted a shorter, less technical experience.
NAEC states that all Pro, Hardtail and E-Bike categories race the same Pro course, and that it offers no beginner category given the technicality and length.
The 2026 Enduro Course and Terrain
Confirmed: Seven timed stages across two days, with USA Cycling reporting nearly 14,000 feet of descending and about an hour of racing, and NAEC reporting more than 13,300 feet and 41+ minutes of racing on its longest stages. The two numbers differ because they use different rounding and likely different reference categories; neither source breaks it down further. NAEC reported near-perfect, fast conditions on Saturday, then cold temperatures, rain, and snow on Sunday.
Editorial context: Long, steep descents with roots that get slick in wet weather reward riders who can stay loose and avoid costly mistakes. Day two’s weather change meant that grip, brake modulation, and staying warm mattered more than they did on Saturday.
Who Competed?
USA Cycling described the field as “hundreds of racers.” The Men’s Pro/Open class had 40 riders, per USA Cycling. NAEC’s 2026 categories included:
- Pro/Open Men and Women (17+)
- Pro/Open E-Bike Men and Women (17+), plus E-Bike U17
- Junior Men and Women: 13–14, 15–16, 17–18
- Age groups: Men 19–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60+; Women 19–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50+
- Hardtail Open and Non-Binary Open
- Sport and Junior Sport categories, plus Enduro Light classes
Eligibility: NAEC says registration includes an annual USA Cycling license for riders competing for the national title who are eligible. International riders without a US address cannot be issued a USAC license and may race but without USAC accident or medical coverage. E-bikes must use drive units permitted under the NAEC’s e-bike rules, and e-bikes were allowed on course only for e-bike registrants during Friday practice.
The NAEC pro purse was $12,000 with equal payouts for men and women: $2,700 for first, $1,500 for second, $900 for third, $540 for fourth, and $360 for fifth.

Notable Performances and Race Storylines
Reported facts:
- Peterson’s defense of his men’s title came with a 40-second margin over Osborne in a 40-rider field.
- Kintner won all seven stages in the Women’s E-Bike category. Her 48:11.27 e-bike total was faster than the 48:55.58 posted by the winner of NAEC’s overall Pro/Open Women standings (Chloe Taylor), a comparison also noted by Mountain Bike Action.
- Maskaly posted the fastest times on six of seven stages in the Pro/Open E-Bike Men class.
- Cleo Brown swept all seven stages in Junior Women 15–16.
- Several champions repeated: Peterson, Flanigan, Gillespie, Nielson, and Razo were described by USA Cycling as defending or repeat winners.
Context on the results tables: NAEC’s overall Pro/Open standings were won by Johnathan Helly (men) and Chloe Taylor (women), who do not appear in the separate national championship tables. The sources we reviewed do not explain the difference, so we report both tables as published and make no claim about why.
Riders and Their Race Bikes
USA Cycling’s report lists sponsor or team associations beside some riders’ names. These are useful leads, but they are not proof of which exact bike or part a rider used on race day. We did not find an official bike check or race-day photo gallery that identifies exact models for the 2026 podium finishers, so the section below stays at brand-association level.
Verified Brands & Equipment Seen at the 2026 Enduro National Championships
How to read this section: “Verified” here means the association appears in USA Cycling’s official race report next to the rider’s name. It does not mean we confirmed that product category or model was used in this specific race. Product categories listed are general descriptions of what each company makes. Where a company’s role is not clear, we say so.

Amazon Gear Guide
Our standard for affiliate recommendations is simple: a product must be tied to a rider at this event by reliable evidence, and we must be able to find the matching listing. For the 2026 Enduro National Championships, no exact product model met that standard. Because we only have brand-level associations, we are not listing any affiliate product links for this event, and we are not substituting similar models.
If you are shopping for gear for your own enduro riding, these on-site guides cover general topics. They are not tied to any rider at this event:
- Mountain and road bike helmet review

What Riders Can Learn From the Course
This section is general advice, not a claim about what any rider did:
- Treat equipment as a system. Tires, brakes, and suspension setup work together on long descents.
- Prepare for weather swings. Practice in dry conditions can look very different on race day, and many riders carry extra layers or lenses.
- Pace the whole weekend. Seven stages across two days rewards consistency; USA Cycling’s report notes riders who won stages while others won titles through steady results.
- Keep maintenance routine tight. See our guides on waxing a chain and adjusting brakes.

Final Thoughts
The 2026 Enduro National Championships at Silver Mountain combined deep fields, difficult terrain, and a big e-bike storyline. Peterson’s title defense, Murdock’s six stage wins, Kintner’s perfect seven-stage sweep, and Maskaly’s dominant e-bike run give a clear picture of the weekend. For readers interested in gear, the honest answer is that public information stops at brand associations. We will update this article if official bike checks or rider-confirmed setups are published.
